Benji Gray, native of Knoxville, Tennessee, graduated with a degree in Exercise Science and French from the University of Tennessee and then continued on to receive his Masters of Education from Lincoln Memorial University. Gray has always been a fan of sports but grew to love the inner workings of athletics while serving in the University of Tennessee's athletic department as the mascot, Smokey.
Gray has lived and taught in Middle Tennessee for Williamson County Schools over the past decade. Upon moving to the area, Gray took over the wrestling program for Page High School in Franklin, Tennessee. Gray has accumulated over 200 career victories at Page High while growing the program from a team of six to currently over 30 wrestlers. Gray's highlights as the Page wrestling coach include a TSSAA dual third place finish, multiple state medalists and the school's first state champion, and establishing the first girls' wrestling program in school history.
As an educator in Williamson County, Gray has also helped coach youth school and club teams in wrestling and track and field. In 2017, Gray was named Page High Athletic Director. Since becoming an athletic director Gray has attended the state athletic director conference each year, become a NIAAA registered athletic administrator, and is currently pursuing the NIAAA certified athletic administrator status.
Gray has developed an athletic department that models the vision and expectations of Williamson County Schools and the TSSAA. He encourages each athletic stakeholder to uphold the purpose and mission goals of creating positive student-athlete opportunities; promoting responsibility and integrity; creating value to Page, community, and state; providing memorable fan experiences; and succeeding and winning championships.
